Dec 20 - K-FoodPioneer hosted Flavors of Korea Online Gathering | First-ever online business meetups for K-Food enthusiasts in Indonesia

K-FoodPioneer welcomed Korean F&B professionals in Indonesia to our first-ever online meetup Flavors of Korea Online Gathering on Dec 20. With an aim to connect and empower K-Food entrepreneurs in Indonesia, the event proudly introduces F&B experts in Indonesia to share tips on how to increase F&B business success:

  • Speaker: Petrus Gandamana, CEO of Bareca Media

  • Speaker: Dieter Speer, Founder of Mister & Misses Cakes

  • Moderator: Joanne J. Lee, Founder & CEO of K-FoodPioneer

The event reached a wide range of audience around the world, with participants joining from Indonesia, South Korea, Vietnam, Australia, Turkey and Canada. This goes to prove that K-Food industry is soaring in popularity worldwide and Indonesia presents potential opportunities for K-Food to flourish.

The panel discussion commenced after Joanne J. Lee, Moderator and CEO of K-FoodPioneer asked the esteemed speakers on the latest insights of the F&B industry in Indonesia. Petrus Gandama, Speaker and CEO of Bareca Media initiated the first presentation during the Panel Discussion.

He shared important customer behaviours in the Indonesia dining scene, where the population held a particular favor for eating and spending time in-door at shopping malls. In return, the participants can consider shopping malls as a highly potential touchpoint for marketing and sales activities.

The second highlight from Petrus entailed islands demographic and the utmost importance in gaining Halal certification. Petrus brought light to catering to different religions' food preference in Indonesia and different segments in the country, making the food scene in Indonesia ever so diverse!

The panel discussion moved onto Dieter, the Founder of Mister & Misses Cakes to explore obstacles and challenges of opening F&B business in Indonesia. As a chef and restaurant owner himself, he articulated the major growth of K-Food in Indonesia and revealed the importance on taste of the local population. Ultimately, he raised his observation on how the locals prefer sweet over spicy and sour food.

Therefore, the observation underscored that business should perform thorough market research to find the right ingredients and menu development to cater to local customers. According to Peter, finding F&B consultants can streamline this step as they are professional who understand the local preference deeply and can improve localization for your menu.

K-FoodPioneer was pleased to interact with two participants on speakers from Turkey and Indonesia. Towards the end, Joanne, Moderator of "Flavor of Korea Online Gathering" also directed two questions about how to increase profits for K-Food entrepreneurs in Indonesia to Petrus and Dieter. We were beyond excited to see how people have engaged in the meetups and joined our passion to create successful K-Food ventures!

K-FoodPioneer would like to express our appreciation towards our excellent speakers, Petrus Gandamana and Dieter Speer for their insightful presentation and professional answers. We are sure that the participants have gained immense knowledge and will apply it to their business operation in Indonesia!

K-FoodPioneer will host more meetups every third Wednesday of the month to harness power for K-Food entrepreneurs around the world. Let's connect, share and learn together.
