Korea City View

Board your sweet adventures in Korea!

Enjoy the sweet combinations between traditional and new flavors!

Do you know where was Paris Baguette founded? Surprisingly, it was founded in Korea, not France.  Besides Paris Banquette, other bakery brands like Tous les Jours are also gaining popularity worldwide.

The Korean dessert landscape is always exploring and combining traditional desserts with new trends.

Nowadays, Korea desserts range from the traditional Tteok(ë–¡) to the modern Croiffle (croissant +waffle) fusion.

Four Seasons of Desserts

With four distinctive seasons, Korea has a diverse variety of desserts to accommodate each season.

In summer, the locals often enjoy Bingsoo (빙수). This is a Korean shaved ice dessert with finely shaved milk snow flakes and different flavors of toppings. Traditionally the typical toppings are red beans with finely ground soy beans.

Recently the toppings have more varieties of seasonal fruits such as mango cubes, thinly sliced honey melon, strawberries, etc.

Discover the go-to winter desserts in Korea

Hotteok (호떡) and fish-shave baked bread (붕어빵) are two most popular winter desserts but the locals also enjoy them throughout a year. Like Bingsoo, red bean paste is the most traditional fillings of fish-shaved bread.

Now fish-shaped breads are made of cream, tomato paste, cranberry with cheese creams.  During a Korean dessert trip we will discover hidden gems of Korean desserts besides bingsoo, croffle,  hotteokbungeo-ppang (fish-shaped baked bread) and more.
